We are thrilled to announce that Bullite Wheels has been featured in SEMA Magazine. Our very own Peter Tran shared insights on our journey, the challenges we faced, and the innovative technologies that set Bullite apart from the competition.
Peter Tran, who oversees business development at our Pleasanton, California headquarters, reflected on Bullite's unique journey since our debut. Launching a new product line during the pandemic was no small feat. As Tran noted, "We launched during the pandemic, when a lot of people were getting into outdoor recreational sports, especially off-roading." This initial surge in interest led to a significant spike in e-commerce sales. However, the subsequent years brought new challenges.
"Last year, we saw a significant slowdown," Tran explained. "This year is a weird year. Everyone was overstocked from the pandemic when the freight rates were high, then they dropped the overstock. They're kind of waiting it out to see whether the economy is going to crash or do better."
At Bullite, innovation is at the core of our product development. We pride ourselves on using advanced materials and manufacturing techniques to create superior products. Our roll-form wheels are crafted from a cold-rolled aluminum sheet for the barrel, a process that sets us apart in the industry.
"We don't melt any of the metal. That gives us a thinner, stronger material," Tran said. "So we get increased tensile strength and a decrease in real weight. Then, we either do a cast or a forged disc, and all of that's all joined together by friction stir welding, which is an aerospace technology."
This meticulous process ensures that our wheels are not only lightweight but also incredibly durable, making them ideal for the demanding environments of powersports racing.
Bullite Wheels are designed to excel in various racing conditions. Tran highlighted the versatility of our products, noting,
"For mainstream racing, we see a lot more UTVs. But in smaller, local competitions, it's ATVs." Our wheels are compatible with a range of vehicle brands, from industry giants like Can-Am and Polaris to emerging contenders like Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Segway, and even Kia. "They're coming in at a more aggressive price point and are getting better in their builds and technology," Tran observed.
